Acceptable Forms Of ID - New York Notary Public
The following forms of identification are acceptable under New York & New Jersey law
ID Acceptance for In-Person Notarization Vary by State. But New York & New Jersey notaries can accept the following identification:
• A current US State-issued Driver’s License or Identification Card
• Canada or Mexico Driver’s License
• United States or Foreign Passport
• Veteran Health Card
• US Military ID
• ID Card issued by the US Immigration and Naturalization Services (USCIS)
NOTE: A notary public must verify the identity of the signer using current, government-issued photo identification. The ID must include a photograph, signature, and identifying information such as date of birth or physical description.
